I have the dream of pursuing a career in fashion journalism before
entering university. So, I said to myself, you love journalism and you love
fashion! So why you don’t you put those two things together and do what you
love?! Before I started blogging, I didn't think it was
possible to work in fashion. . .
It’s hard to get in the fashion and television industry, but now I
think I probably will. Being “fashionable” requires center features, keeping up with the latest collections
or right brands and designers, going to right places and communicating with the
right people.
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in
the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with idea, the way we live, what is
happening” - Coco Chanel
Competitors In The Market
In the past few years we saw many fashion reality shows full of glamour, drama and famous people. “Project Runway”, “Style To Rock”, “Next Top Model” or the “Rachel Zoe Project” are some of the reality shows that come to mind. And my question is, do all these reality shows have the success they want? Or will they fall by making the same mistake other shows did?
Going back to all seasons of Project Runway, the show failed to launch a fashion “star” which was the aim of the show to discover a breakout fashion star, someone who could follow the spotlight footsteps of New York heavyweights.
When the Project Runway launched in 2004 attracted an audience of 354,000 and the first seasons final episode drew more than 2 million viewers. According to Teri Agins, a former guest judge and author of Hijacking the Runway: How celebrities are stealing the spotling from fashion designers “One of the reasons it petered was it failed to do what it claimed it would”.
Also, Styled to Rock, with all the glamour and regular appearances of famous people failed to succeed seeing as the aim of the show was unclear. It was a reality-talent show about fashion with celebrity elements or a show about celebrities and fashion.
Making people ask the question of where the “talent” was. And this is why my enterprise idea, focus on the target audience and not just to attack the audience by pulling out the “fashion glamour” and drama.
The Runway of Your Life did not aim to create the next fashion star, but to focus predominantly on the designers. We want the designers to benefit from this concept by selling his or her idea direct to the audience and not to famous professional people. This is the unique selling point between my idea and the ones we have already seen.
“We found our little niche”, by having people wear the clothes instead of a professional making the decisions about the outcomes. Because, at the end of the day we wear the clothes designers makes for us!

Benefits For All!
v Channel: The channel that will broadcast the show will have the benefit for more television advertising for accessible products such as clothes. A delightful, entertainment program that will attract a large amount of female audience members. According to study by the Girl Scouts Institute “47% of girls and young women say they are regular viewers, with 30% saying they watch sometimes.
Future Next Steps
v My next steps will be to promote my blog by using my accounts on social media. (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin)
v Build a network in both industries and ask feedback about my work.
v Try to pitch my idea to a commissioner.
